Wuala - P2P Online File Storage and Sharing

Wuala logoWuala is a new way of storing, sharing, and publishing files on the internet. It's a free desktop application for Windows, Mac, and Linux that brings you a convenient and secure online storage. Unlike traditional online storage systems, Wuala is decentralized and can harness idle resources of participating computers to build a large, secure, and reliable online storage. This new technology has a number of advantages and it allows us to provide you a better service for free.

Here is how it works:

Download and install Wuala Client, then log into the Wuala network. It provides you 1GB of storage for free. You can get extra free storage if you are willing to share your hard disk space with the Wuala community. To be able to trade your local storage for more online storage, you have to keep your computer online for more than 17% of the time on average (about 4 hours a day). The more local storage you provide, the more online storage you get, depending on your online time. The same goes to bandwidth, the more upload bandwidth you provide, the faster your download speed will be. These are the incentives Wuala gives you to keep you online.

With the storage you have, you can create folders and simply drag and drop your files such as photos, videos, music, document onto the client. You can store any file you want in any size you want. You can tag your files or event add comment on the photos or videos. You can search through files like you would normally search on a web-based service. You can share folders with friends, keep folders private or public. You can also search and browse for what others have published.
