Browsershots is a a free open-source online service created by Johann C. Rocholl where you can test your web design in different browsers. It captures screenshots of your web design in many different browsers including Intenet Explorer, Mozilla, Safari, Firefox and more. Browsershots is very useful for web designer to make sure their site design work in all forms of web browsers and operating systems.
The Browsershots system consists of a central server and a large number of distributed screenshot factories. The server manages the screenshot requests, uploaded screenshots, and the configuration of the factories. The screenshot factories make screenshots of web pages in different browsers on different platforms and store them in a database on the central server.
To test your web design, just enter the URL and it gets added to the job queue. You can select your preferred browsers and browser configurations drop-down boxes let you request special features for your screenshots. A number of distributed computers will open your website in their browser. Then a group of volunteers use a small program to automatically make screenshots of web pages in their browser and upload them to Browsershots central server.
Refresh your "Website Overview" page to see screenshots as they are uploaded. It took about 1 hour to load all the screenshots. You may have to wait longer in the queue when there's a lot of demand. You can click the "Extend" button to extend the expiry time, this will reset the expiry time to 30 minutes.
It allows you to view thumbnails as well as full size pictures.
You can also check out the recent screenshots made by Browsershots.
Browsershots is the most comprehensive free browser testing service I’ve seen. For more info, visit http://browsershots.org.
